Ultima Online question: Mondain the Wizard

I am wondering, someone has an item called "The Head of Mondain". It appears to be a quest item from WAY back. Perhaps from the original release of UO. But my internet searches say something about Mondain the Wizard dying before The Trinsic Invasion. It was the culmination of a long storyline alternatively known as the Second War of Darkness or the Revenge of the Dark Enchantress.

Does anyone know anything about this? Or what quest giver in UO would have started the quest line? Thank you.

All I know of Mondain is what was in the introduction movie. And at some point we got commemorative plates on the 300th anniversary of his defeat.

This could be a leftover from the days of bounties.

If someone named their character "Mondain" and was killed while they had a bounty, the bounty hunter could get the killed character's head.

The head would say "The Head of Mondain", or whatever the killed character's name was.

Been a long time, but I think (???) that is the way the system used to work.

Yes, a character's name would be attached to the head. People used to make characters with funny names just for that.
